Betano Nigeria Review 2026: Licence, App & Verdict

Betano Nigeria review: the LSLGA licence check and the change of licence holder, plus app, payments, markets and who it suits. Checked 1 November 2026.

12 min readBy Naija Score

Betano is one of the most searched bookmaker names in Nigeria, yet it is hard to find a plain answer to the questions a careful punter asks first: who runs it here, is it licensed, and what does the sign-up actually involve? Many pages that rank for “Betano” are affiliate sites that repeat the same promo code and skip the licence question.

This review does the opposite. We start from the public licence register, separate what official and reliable sources confirm from what only review sites claim, and tell you plainly what we could not verify. Betano is a large international brand, but a big name is not a licence and it is not a reason to stake money you cannot afford to lose.

How this review was made. This review is based on the bookmaker’s official site, the public LSLGA licence register and public information as of 1 November 2026. We have not opened a funded account for this review, so it does not describe first-hand deposit or withdrawal times. Links marked “Ad” go to betting sites, and we don’t earn commission from them yet. Terms, markets and features change, so check the official site for current details.

Short answer: Betano appears on the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA) register as a currently licensed trade name. That is a minimum check, not an endorsement, and you should look at the register yourself before depositing.

On 1 November 2026 we consulted the public LSLGA register of licensed operators. It lists Betano twice, under two different licence holders:

Licence holderTrade nameValid fromValid toStatus on 1 Nov 2026
Crystal Gaming LimitedBetano23 July 202522 July 2026Expired
Kaizen Gaming LimitedBetano23 September 202622 September 2027Current

What the change of entity means. For a year, Betano’s Lagos licence sat with Crystal Gaming Limited. When that licence ran out in July 2026, the register shows a new one issued to Kaizen Gaming Limited, the group that owns the Betano brand, starting on 23 September 2026. Two things follow:

  • The brand now has a current Lagos licence in the name of its owner, which is the cleaner situation for a punter.
  • The register shows a gap of about two months, between 22 July and 23 September 2026, with no Betano entry in force. We do not know the reason, and the register does not say. It may be a renewal lag or something else. We are not suggesting wrongdoing; we are simply reporting what the public list shows.

What about the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC)? Several review sites say Betano holds a federal NLRC licence and name “Kaizen Gaming Nigeria Limited” as the operator. We could not confirm this from the NLRC or from news reporting, so we do not state it as fact. If a federal licence matters to you, check the NLRC’s own list or ask Betano support to show you the licence number.

How to check it yourself in two minutes:

  1. Open the LSLGA register linked above on your phone.
  2. Search the page for “Betano” and read the licence holder and the end date.
  3. Compare the licence holder with the company name in the footer or terms of the Betano site you are on.
  4. Only use the official Betano website or the app from the official store listing. Avoid links from social media or messages.

Being on a register does not tell you how fast Betano pays, how it treats complaints or whether its odds are fair. It only tells you the operator is known to a regulator. For the wider picture of who is licensed and who is not, see our best betting sites in Nigeria comparison.

Who owns Betano and since when has it operated in Nigeria?

Betano is a brand of Kaizen Gaming, a company founded in Athens, Greece, in 2012 according to Wikipedia’s Betano entry. Betano runs in several regulated markets in Europe and the Americas.

We could not find a reliable source giving the exact month Betano went live in Nigeria. One review site says “established in 2018”, but that is the age of the brand worldwide rather than of the Nigerian operation, so we do not use it. What we can confirm is local activity in 2025: Betano announced sponsorship of the Lagos Campus Beach Soccer tournament in March 2025, with its Retail Country Manager commenting on grassroots sport and responsible gaming, as reported by Africasport. We found no Betano shirt or league sponsorship in the NPFL; the league’s visible betting sponsors are other brands.

Betano registration and login step by step

Review sites describe a short sign-up. The steps below come from the Betano guides we consulted, so treat the order as a guide and follow the screens on the official site.

StepWhat to doTip
1Open the official Betano Nigeria site or app and tap RegisterCheck the web address before you type anything
2Sign up with email, Google or Facebook, then enter your detailsUse your real name exactly as it appears on your bank account
3Confirm your phone number with the one-time code (OTP)Use a number registered in your own name
4Choose a sports or casino welcome offer, or decline itRead the wagering terms first; do not assume bonus money can be withdrawn
5Make a first deposit if you want to playA ₦100 minimum is reported by review sites; confirm in the cashier

Verification (KYC). Betano can ask you to prove you are 18 or older. One guide lists a passport, driver’s licence, voter’s card or National Identification Slip as accepted documents. Upload them before you need to withdraw, not after you win.

Betano app and mobile site

Short answer: Betano is reported to have apps for both Android and iOS, plus a mobile site. Where the Android file should come from is disputed, so rely on the official site’s own instructions.

Sources contradict each other here. One review says the Android app is not on the Google Play Store and must be downloaded from Betano’s website. Another says to find “Betano – Online Betting” on the Play Store and check the publisher is Kaizen Gaming. We cannot tell which is current, and it may have changed. The safe rule: start from the official Betano site, follow the download button it gives you, and never install an APK from a link in a group chat or from a mirror site.

Betano markets, bet builder, cash out and NPFL

Short answer: Expect the usual football menu: match result, double chance, over/under, both teams to score and handicaps. Beyond that, we could only get second-hand confirmation of the extras.

  • Core football markets. If any of these terms are new, our guides on how to calculate betting odds and handicap betting explained will help before you stake.
  • Bet builder. One review says Betano has a bet builder, including a “Bet Builder Boost” that adds a multiplier on qualifying slips. We could not check the multiplier rules, so read them in the app first.
  • Cash out. One review lists cash out as available. Cash out is rarely offered on every market and bet, so do not assume it will be there on a specific accumulator. See football accumulator bets for why that matters.
  • NPFL. The Goal review lists the Nigeria Professional Football League among covered African leagues; another review does not mention it. Check the football section in the app for your matchday before you plan around it.

Betano deposits and withdrawals

Short answer: Review sites report many ways to deposit and a bank transfer for withdrawals. Minimums and times are inconsistent across sources, so check the cashier before you fund anything.

Deposits. Reported methods are Visa, Mastercard, Verve, bank transfer, OPay, PalmPay and the payment gateways Paystack, Flutterwave and Monnify. One guide gives a general minimum deposit of ₦100, while others show different minimums per method, from ₦50 on cards to ₦200 on Paystack. Maximum deposit limits also vary by method and some users find them restrictive. If you fund from a wallet, our guide to the OPay app for betting deposits and withdrawals explains the practical steps.

Withdrawals. One guide says withdrawals are bank transfer only and cites processing “within two hours” in most cases, up to 24 hours in some. We have not tested this. Another review lists a ₦2,000 minimum withdrawal while a third says ₦100, so we do not give a figure. Verification is the usual cause of delay: complete KYC early, and remember a bonus can lock winnings until its wagering is done.

Bonuses. Review sites advertise a first-deposit bonus of 50% up to ₦200,000 with a promo code, but codes and terms differ between sites and change often. We do not quote an offer as current. Check the promotions page on the official site and read the wagering rules.

Betano vs Betway, SportyBet and Bet9ja

We have not used these accounts side by side, so this comparison is based on public information and our existing reviews. Use it to decide what to check, not as a ranking.

In practice, Betano’s licence position on the Lagos list is currently its clearest advantage over some rivals. Whether that turns into a better experience depends on payout speed and support, which we cannot confirm without a funded account.

Pros and cons of Betano

ProsCons
Current LSLGA entry for Kaizen Gaming Limited, valid to 22 September 2027Previous licence holder, Crystal Gaming Limited, expired in July 2026, with a visible gap before the new one
Backed by an international group with operations in regulated marketsNLRC licence claimed by reviews but not confirmed by us
Wide payment choices reported, including cards and walletsMinimums and withdrawal times vary between sources
Reported bet builder and cash outApp download route unclear between sources
Support channels reported, including live chatBonus terms and codes change often and differ by site
Responsible gaming messages and 18+ notices on the siteWe could not verify specific tools such as deposit limits or self-exclusion

Our verdict. Betano passes the minimum licence check on the Lagos register as of 1 November 2026, which makes it a brand worth looking at seriously. It is not a verdict on service, because we have not opened an account and sources disagree on important details such as withdrawal minimums and the Android download route.

Betano may suit you if you want a large international brand with a current Lagos licence, you bet mainly on mainstream football and you are happy to read the terms before accepting any bonus.

Look elsewhere if NPFL depth and booking-code culture are your priority (the local giants are stronger there), or if you want certainty on federal licensing before you deposit anything.

Whatever you choose, set your stake limit before you open the app, never chase losses and never bet money meant for rent, school fees or bills. If betting stops being fun, our guide on how to stop betting can help. Before any bet, you can also look at our football predictions — shown with their results, today a backtest on 2023–24 matches — and the rest of the market in our bookmaker reviews and Nigerian betting sites list.
